New Homes Program Honored for Sustained Excellence

Texas-New Mexico Power has been named a recipient of the Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award by the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program.

TNMP, a poles-and-wires company serving about 245,000 homes and businesses in communities across Texas, now has been honored three consecutive years for the High-Performance Homes Program of its energy efficiency portfolio.

The Sustained Excellence Award specifically recognizes TNMP's repeated success.

"We're very proud of the success our staff and our partners have achieved in bringing more energy efficient new homes into our communities," TNMP President Neal Walker said. "Our energy efficiency offers have been effective for years in helping customers save energy."

The High-Performance Homes Program's successes in 2017 included:

  • Participating home builders: 17
  • Paid homes built in TNMP service area: 709
  • Peak-demand savings credited to TNMP program: 903.89 kilowatts
  • Consumption savings credited to TNMP program: 2.97 million kilowatt-hours

TNMP is one of 25 utilities nationwide to earn Sustained Excellence Awards in 2018.

“The 2018 Energy Star Partners of the Year have demonstrated real leadership, showing how American families and businesses can save energy, save money and reduce air emissions,” said Bill Wehrum, EPA assistant administrator for air and radiation.
